Facebook is Taking Over the World

Facebook owns everything. That’s right…your pictures, comments, videos, ideas, music, poetry – you name it, they own it. With a few subtle changes to their terms of service, Facebook now owns all of your content forever. “All of the content you’ve ever uploaded on Facebook can be used, modified or even sublicensed by Facebook in every possible way - even if you quit the service.”

Water Increases Children’s Cancer Risk

A not so settling study reveals that “the number of beach, poolside and waterpark vacations children take before age 6 is directly related to the number of moles on their little bodies. A study of 681 white children in Colorado found that for each water-themed vacation, kids had 5 percent more moles — raising the risk for skin cancer later in life.“ It’s obvious that kids’ being around water usually includes exposure to the sun. However, “the results are startling enough that study author Lori Crane, a professor at the Colorado School of Public Health, is advising parents to rethink sun-soaked vacations for children.”

Lose Weight by Sleeping

Who would have ever thought it could be this easy? Just sleep. No jogging, push-ups, sit-ups or anything like that. All you have to do get at least seven and a half hours of sleep a night – that’s it; simple but difficult. With work, family and everything else in your life it can be difficult to catch enough shuteye. At least two dozen studies have documented that people tend to weigh more if they sleep less, says Sanjay Patel, M.D., a researcher at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. In a 16-year study of almost 70,000 women, Dr. Patel and his colleagues found that those who slept five hours or less a night were 30 percent more likely to gain 30-plus pounds than those who got more rest.

A Russian Paris Hilton?

It could be the beginning of a diva cold war. Paris Hilton, America’s favorite celebrity for no reason, could have a Russian rival. Katia Verber, “a dark-haired heiress with piercing eyes and perfect teeth, is like one of the Hilton sisters [only Russian]. She's the daughter of Alla Verber, who helps run Russia's biggest luxury retailer, Mercury, which brought Dolce, Gucci, and Prada to Russia in the mid-1990s. Time to Let Loose in the White House

Let’s all relax! Who doesn’t dread having to get “dressed up” to go to work? Day after day you put on that coat and tie all the while dreaming of endless casual Fridays. Well change has finally come to D.C. This should come as no surprise because President Obama did “[promise] to bring change to Washington and he has — not just in substance, but in presidential style.” The rule of coat and tie in the oval office at all times is out the window. That’s not all… “He shows up at the Oval Office shortly before 9 in the morning, roughly two hours later than his early-to-bed, early-to-rise predecessor. Mr. Obama likes to have his workout — weights and cardio — first thing in the morning, at 6:45. (Mr. Bush slipped away to exercise midday.)”

Show Some Skin

Alright, I need you all to take you tops off so we can take some pictures for a calendar. Wait, wait…it’s for a good cause! A local pet-supply store manager Suzi Wharton talked 15 of Goldsboro, North Carolina's most respected businesswomen out of their tops. Their animal shelter was in dire shape: “Each year around 7,000 dogs and cats arrived at the dank, 50-year-old building to be housed in overcrowded pens and stacked cat cages. Most never left. The place was so depressing that local residents didn't want to set foot in it, so even the most adoptable pets couldn't find homes and had to be euthanized.” Amazingly, “it took only 25 calls to potential models before she landed the number she needed for the July 2008-December 2009 calendar.” “When the Petals & Paws calendar debuted last May, 1,000 of the 3,000 copies were snapped up immediately. At press time the WCHS had grossed $25,500, with sales ongoing both locally and online at http://www.goldsboro-wchs.org/.”

CSI Actor Saves YouTube Video

It must have felt like TV when “CSI” actor Gerald McCullouch was recently attacked on a New York subway. “McCullouch, who plays Bobby Dawson on the hit CBS show, had just gotten off a plane from Los Angeles and was riding the A train when a man allegedly attacked him with a knife.” For most celebrities this is enough to give up any valuable– not McCullouch. The actor said he had been editing a clip for YouTube for hours, so when the attacker grabbed his laptop McCullouch didn’t let go. “I didn’t want to give up my computer after working on my video all that time,” McCullouch explained.
